My Apologies.

I am truly sorry for my political rant yesterday. Not cool.

I'm enjoying my Friday and Saturday morning to myself, exempting Mike, of course.  Poor Molly, we just spend too much time together, that's all. It'll be better when she goes to school.  Hopefully, we'll get her into pre-k.  Are my blog entries boring?  I think they must be.  Oh, well.  It's kind of fun anyway.  I do sensor myself since anyone can read it, but it's nice to write again.  I quit when I was pregnant, and could never quite get back into it.  Until now.  And it's boring for the reader.  :)

Go to www.thedailyshow.com and watch all the episodes that you have time for.  Good times!

Have a lovely weekend.

Oklahoma's New Abortion Laws

Stupid, stupid. They know these laws are unconstitutional and that they will be contested. They are wasting state money at a time when they are making serious budget cuts, like the one to prenatal care for poor women. It angers me. Why? Because I feel violated. I have never had, nor do I ever intend to have an abortion, but I fail to see what that has to do with anything. It's not those assholes decision; it's mine. I feel violated on behalf of all the women who have already made an informed decision about what is right for them and their families, and have to suffer further than they already are. And frankly, who is paying for these ultra sensitive ultra sounds? Is it creating an added economic hardship on these women? Because if it was me I would refuse to pay for it, since it's not "elective".
And that's just the first abortion law. Don't even get me started on the one that says my doctor doesn't have to tell me if my child is going to be born with a birth defect. This one is even more reprehensible than the first. Women who want to have abortions have to be told that their fetuses are healthy, and women who want their children don't have to be told that their children may not be healthy. God forbid I try to prepare myself to take the best care possible of my child with special needs. OMG! If I had a bunch of money I would give it all to the Democratic Party in Oklahoma.
I think this is a cry for help. These guys really want us to fire them. Forget about changing the federal government. Let's just change Oklahoma. Please, because I don't want to have to move away.

Aquarium

I have to say, being as cheap as I am, that the aquarium in Tulsa is rather expensive, considering how small it is. We had a lovely time visiting our cousins, however, so it was worth. However, the last time I went to the OKC zoo, it was only seven dollars. The aquarium was fifteen for me and eleven for Molly. Anyway here's a pic with the turtles.

Festival of the Arts

Just a few quick pictures of the Arts' Festival from last Thursday.

I'm not done with the flower bed yet, as we didn't realize that small mimosa tree had such LARGE roots. I spent five hours yesterday cleaning out all the grass and trimming back the poor rose bushes.  I hope I haven't killed them.  I'm planning on finally planting the flowers I bought today.  I think I've decided to put the blueberry bushes in the back yard.  I kept finding dog poo in the flower bed, and something about eating blueberries fertilized by dog poo didn't sound appealing.

Sigh.

It's nine fifteen AM and Molly is already throwing tantrums this morning.  That's what the naughty chair is for I guess. I didn't work in the flower bed last night.  I mowed instead.  I want to do it today.  I want to plant my blue berries.  Food Inc.  Is on tonight on PBS @ 8.  So, I'll have to do it this morning or this afternoon.

I also want to take Molly to the Arts' Festival this week.  And we are going to Tulsa on Saturday to visit my cousin and her daughter.  She says there is a great aquarium up there.

So much to do and see.  I'll take pictures of the Arts' Festival at least.

Rain

It rained allllllllll weekend, cold rain, which means I didn't get anything planted.  I did however get some plants.  My mom got me two blueberry plants and one elephant ear plant for a housewarming present. I also got some tomato and pepper plants.  I found a couple flower plants that I wanted to put in my flower  bed out front. I think I'm all ready for it to stop raining.  I have a busy week ahead of me.
I am so excited about the blueberry bushes!  I love blueberries!

Molly planted her seeds that her aunt Suzen gave her for Easter.  The sunflower seeds got really big and we had to plant them.  I hope they didn't get flooded out this weekend.

Hopefully, I will be back on Tuesday with finished pictures of the garden and flower bed.  Yay Spring!

No excuses!

I don't have any excuses for not blogging the past two days.  There are reasons, I suppose, but I can't remember them now.  :)

I am almost done with my garden, should finish up over the weekend.  I'll be sure and post some pics on Monday.  It's raining today, I hope that means my sinuses will stop hurting all the time.  :)

The happy faces are starting to get on my nerves.

Thank you to my aunt Lisa who bought three things from me on etsy, which brought my total number of sales to, drum roll, 7.  Yay!

Next week looks to be pretty busy, so I should have some pictures and what not. I'm also working on a straw hat thing that I think will be fun to put on etsy.  Pictures coming!  Thanks for reading. Have a good weekend!

Plum Jelly

My maternal grandmother, now in a nursing home with Alzheimer's, used to make plum jelly when I was a kid.  I loved it.  I miss it. I want some. A couple years ago, my mom got a hold of some plum juice and we made some to hand out at Christmas. The two jars I kept are gone now.  I want it.  I want it.  Arrrrrgh!!!

I found some at www.deepcreekdesigns.etsy.com.  Only $13.50 for three pint jars seems like a good deal to me, but, and I do understand why, the shipping is $11.95.  I can't add right now because of the headache, but I need more money!!!!!!!!   :)

I hope they keep it in stock for a bit longer.  They also have blueberry jam that sounds just lovely.  Sigh!

Have a good Tuesday!

The Weekend

The weekend was a good one.  Mike's sister came and got Molly Friday afternoon.  Mike and I went to see Date Night.  Very, very good, great positive message at the end, about the importance  of communication and teamwork in marital relationships.  And crazy silly in that Tina Fey and Steven Carell sort of way.  Mike's review of it will be in the Oklahoma Gazette on Wednesday! I have not gotten a sneak peek at it, so I look forward to reading it as well.  :)

Last week I finally found a bra that fits the way I want and Saturday I went and bought two more.  It is amazing what a good bra will do for your self-esteem.  I also got to go running around on my errands by myself, which is always one of my secret joys-okay-not so secret joys.

Saturday we got invited to a last minute, small barbecue thing. That was fun.  Molly got to stay up until midnight, which might have something to do with the cold she seems to have acquired.

Yesterday, I got all the laundry done, went to the grocery store, and mowed the lawn for the first time since I was about nineteen.

Oh, I also planted one row of green beans.   I will do the potatoes tonight after dinner maybe, or tomorrow morning.  My head hurts right now.  Still need to buy tomatoes and peppers.  Yay garden!

Cat Food

I printed a coupon for Meowmix awhile ago on www.coupons.com. I used it yesterday and realized that 75 cents off each time I buy a bag of cat food is a great deal, even if the cat food isn't on sale. Since my cat will only eat the Meowmix, I'm stuck buying it. When I got home from saving 75 cents, I went back to coupons.com thinking I would print another off for later, but there weren't any cat food coupons. Then I got the great idea, and it was a great idea, I thought, I wonder what would happen if I typed in www.meowmix.com.

Point of the story is that I went straight to the source and got another coupon. I might have to try this with other things as well. I think I end up spending the money I save on other stuff, but the couponing thing sure is fun.

Lazy Thursday

I don't feel much like blogging today, so I'll make it short and sweet again. Yay!

Check out these two websites. I want to watch the pig movie and the modified genetic film, but I don't have the patience today. They are very long. Watch them if you have the time and let me know if it's worth it.

Also, I did watch The Daily Show this morning. What they do to the Catholic Church is extraordinary.

Blogging

I have learned a lot about the blogging world so far, but as far as I can see there is so much more to learn. I did run across www.modishblog.com from my Etsy Success email for this week. Lots of good advice and lots of different blog subjects. The blog is also very well put together. I am inspired today. :)

Kazoo

Molly found a couple of kazoos in the Easter eggs on Sunday. Very, very annoying.

This will be gardening week. I'll get a picture when I'm done. I think it might freeze on Thursday, so I think I'll wait until Friday to plant. Molly got a gardening bag with gloves and a hand rake and shovel for Easter from Mike's sister. It's really cute when she carries it outside with her gloves on.

If I get all the garden stuff done, I'm going to focus on new ideas for etsy next week. Honest. :)

Easter Pics

It was a long weekend. I forgot my camera on Saturday, but here's a couple from Sunday.

Friday, April 2, 2010

It's Friday!

Actually, I'm writing this on Thursday. My mother came and got Molly and I'm looking forward to a whole day tomorrow (today if your reading this) to myself.  I have a long list of course, haircut, grocery store, make cupcakes. I will be back on Monday with pictures!  Here's a picture from last night (Wednesday night.)

Happy Easter!

Gardening

I have started to dig up a portion of my back yard to grow a few vegetables this year. I meant to have it done already but it kept snowing. I wanted to start off slow for my first year. I bought seed potatoes the other day, and I have some green bean seeds. I want to buy some tomato plants. My husband wants to be in charge of peppers. I think that will be enough for this year.

Here's a picture from that last snow from the 13th of March. The other picture I took a couple weeks earlier. That kid's imagination is amazing to me. But then I'm her mother, I'm sure she's not out of the ordinary.
I will take a picture of the garden when I get it ready.

Happy gardening!
